Temescal Lake in Oakland
Hosted by Shirley Jowell

Temescal Lake in Oakland is a small lake - it takes about 45 minutes to walk around or one can pleasantly turn around and increase  the distance by walking from a different aspect on the way back. There are many birds (especially cormorants, egrets and ducks), redwoods, a beach with swimming and a lifeguard in the summertime. It is a very peaceful walk in the midst of a large city situated near the tunnel to Orinda and Walnut Creek.  It has grassy lawns for picnics and is not noisy at all. We will mostly bring picnic lunches. We will also provide volunteers to help those who need wheelchair or other assistance.

We request that interested members register.  We also ask that on arrival supply your cellphone number when you register.  The leaders will always have their cellphones.  Please let the leaders know if you are going to arrive later than the noted time.  Each walker must let someone know if they wander off from the main path, or leave early.

We will meet at 11am at the NORTH pakring lot, facing the lawn.  Tthe NORTH parking lot is
accessible  from Broadway in N. Oakland.  Please the see the map for directions.  Remember to
bring binoculars if you have them, and a picnic lunch.

We encourage carpoooling and please let the office know if you need a ride.

You can find a link to a google map of Temescal Lake here. It is easier to read than Mapquest.
