Nimitz Way from Inspiration Point,
Tilden Park: "Looking for Vistas"
Hosted by Audre and Roger Newman, Nimitz Way is popular with hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians, and affords spectacular views from the crest of the East Bay hills to the east, west, and north. It is part of the The East Bay Skyline National Recreation Trail. We'll stroll along the paved Nimitz Way road (off limits to motor traffic) which winds north along a long ridge. The Nimitz is mostly flat, but a bit hilly at the beginning. We can separate into two groups: faster walkers and amblers, since the trail goes on for miles and miles.
We'll meet at the trail head, west of the parking lot at Inspiration Point on Wildcat Canyon Road (on the way to Orinda). The best parking for this trail is at Inspiration Point on Wildcat Canyon Road. Let’s try to carpool.
Ashby Village office can help connect people who live near each other. Please note there is no drinking water at this parking area, and dogs must be on a leash on Nimitz way.
We’ll regroup at Inspiration Point at noon, and then find a restaurant in Berkeley near the campus.
