Nature Walk: Point Pinole: Easy, with more challenging options

RSVP: Email Audre Newman or call 510-548-0530

When: Saturday, November 17, 11:15 am - 1:30 pm

Where: Point Pinole Regional Park
      5551 Giant Highway
      Richmond, CA

Wheelchair accessible: Yes

Open to: Members, volunteers

Many options, Easy to Challenging, depending on your speed and the trails selected.

Pt. Pinole is a great park with lots of options (http://www.ebparks.org/parks/pt_pinole): gorgeous views across the Bay of Marin, San Francisco and beyond, crisscrossed with pathways through meadows and eucalyptus forests; paved paths for speedy wheelchairs, mostly flat, and interesting history.

Where to meet: We will meet in the parking lot at 5551 Giant Highway, Richmond, CA. There is an accessible toilet there.

What to bring: Good hiking shoes or boots for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, water, windbreaker, snacks. Hiking poles are optional, but a good idea for the longer option.

How to get there: Go North on I-80 to Richmond, exit at the Richmond Parkway, going west towards the Bay. Cross San Pablo Ave and watch for the Giant Highway/Pt. Pinole exit on the right. Turn right onto Giant Highway and proceed to the park entrance going North. The Park entrance is on the left. It should take 20 minutes to get there from Hwy 80 at University in Berkeley.

Carpools: If you need a ride or can give a ride, call or email Audre a few days in advance for arranging a pickup near your home or at a BART station.

Public transit: See AC TRANSIT by calling 511, or on the internet at 511.org.
