Sid Wolinsky
is one of the nation's leading disability rights advocates and has been practicing civil rights law for over 50 years. Over the course of this talk, Sid
will explain the rights you have in multiple areas of your life and what you may be entitled to if you have
mobility, sight, hearing or other disabilities
. He will offer practical and simple explanations of what the disability laws entitle you to in areas of daily life such as receiving medical care, going to the movies and theater, using public transportation, banking and financial transactions and making your residence more accessible.
About the Speaker
Sid Wolinsky
is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of
Disability Rights Advocates
. Mr. Wolinsky is a specialist in class action and high-impact litigation and rights of people with disabilities, both nationally and internationally. In recent years, he has particularly specialized in legal issues involving students with learning disabilities and health care rights of disabled people. He previously was the Director of Litigation and a co-founder of
Public Advocates, Inc
. and was the first Director of Litigation at
San Francisco Neighborhood Legal Assistance Foundation
.
Mr. Wolinsky has twice been a Senior Fulbright Scholar (Hungary, 1993; Malaysia, 1981) and has been an adjunct guest lecturer at Boalt Hall School of Law, Hastings College of the Law and King Hall at UC Davis. Mr. Wolinsky graduated from Yale Law School in 1961 and Princeton University in 1958.
