This new group is ready to resume its meetings after a summer recess. At these meetings, members will describe their transitions into retirement with the intent of highlighting the positive and creative outcomes of the transition. A discussion will follow to give participants an opportunity to reflect on their own transitions.
At its inaugural meeting in June, this agenda was altered markedly when a guest described the bumpy road his transition from career to retirement had taken, a bumpy road made even more challenging by the death of his wife. This development has brought into question the purpose of the group discussions. This stage in our lives is full of possibility, and like any other time in one’s life, the unexpected will occur. How can we manage this transition and all it brings with it, as well as support one another in learning about both our internal resources and the external practical resources we may need? Together, we will find out!
