Q&A for the Medical Cannabis Curious

Dr. Laurie Vollen last presented to Ashby Village in 2022 (Link to recording). Since then, the medicinal Cannabis marketplace has continued to shrink, as more products geared toward recreational use are crowding out shelf space in dispensaries. Some long-time dispensaries have closed because they can no longer operating successfully in the increasingly competitive recreational market place. What does this mean for those seeking medicinal products in California? Dr. Vollen will begin this Q & A session by briefly explaining how some recent developments, including media coverage of on-going concerns over Cannabis and heart disease, impact those seeking to begin or continue Medicinal Cannabis use. The majority of time will be devoted to participant's questions. For those who are new to Cannabis or want basic information about Medicinal Cannabis, watching the Ashby Village 2022 presentation “Medical Marijuana: The ABC’s of Medicinal Cannabis” before the Q & A session is highly recommended.

Dr. Vollen is a Board Certified, Berkeley based physician specializing in Medical Marijuana and its use with older adults. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago and completed her residency at the University of California San Diego in Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
