Description: This 3.0+ mile, out-and-back hike is NOT flat! But it’s not steep either.  It follows the West Ridge Trail over gently rolling terrain heading south.  We begin in the redwoods, pass through a “cathedral” of cypress, followed by a stretch of eucalyptus and on through groves of oak and bay.  Mt. Diablo to the east can be glimpsed occasionally.  We will start at the Redwood Bowl Staging Area and walk as far as we like (or until the trail dives down into the canyon, near the Toyon Trail junction).  The trail is well-maintained dirt the entire way.  Heavy rain a day ahead or on the day cancels.

Where to meet: We will meet at the Roberts Regional Park, Redwood Bowl Staging Area parking lot on Skyline Blvd. just north of the Roberts Recreation area, and just south of the Chabot Space Center.

What to bring: Binoculars if you have them, good hiking shoes or boots for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, water, windbreaker, snacks, hat, and sanitizer. Hiking poles are optional, but a good idea.

Directions: Hwy 13 south to Joaquin Miller Road. Go left at the stop sign to get on Joaquin Miller Rd.  Follow Joaquin Miller Road and turn Left at the stop light onto Skyline Blvd.  Drive about a mile until you have passed the Roberts Recreation Area entrance. About 100 yds beyond turn R (east) into  The Redwood Bowl Staging area parking lot. The parking lot is also about 100 yards south of the entrance to Chabot Space & Science Center.

Restrictions:
*Limit group size to 6 (including leader).  First 5 members to register before November 9 will walk together.  Additional walkers will be added if we have enough leaders to create a second group of 5.
*Masks are to be worn at all times.
*Social distance of 6ft will be maintained throughout the walk
*Hand sanitizer will be used at the beginning and end of the walk lieu of hand washing.  There are NO restrooms along this trail.

AQI (Air Quality Index) below 50 is required.  Predicted temperatures must be below 80ºF.
