Established to coincide with the year long celebration of Ashby Village's Fifth Anniversary, the first annual campaign to support the Founders Fund, to which many generous Ashby Village members, volunteers and friends contributed, has raised a record of over $70,000 in gifts to the general fund and the It Takes A Village fund. More Ashby Village community members than ever have supported this effort - with an increase of 60 percent in individual gifts from our last annual fund campaign. We can't thank our donors enough for their philanthropic support for Ashby Village!
The Founders Fund, which honors Pat Sussman, Shirley Haberfeld and many other hard-working volunteers who started Ashby Village over five years ago, helps support our organization's needs that are not covered by membership fees and keep them as low as possible. In addition, 10% of all individual gifts made to the Founders Fund will help subsidize low-income members, as part of the It Takes A Village program.
We are also extremely proud to announce that Ashby Village has received a total of over $72,000 in special purpose grants from foundations this fiscal year. These include an anonymous family foundation generously donated $25,000 in restricted funds to support our first half-time Social Care Coordinator position. We are also very excited to announce that the Joseph & Vera Long Foundation recently awarded Ashby Village $47,000 to support our organization's technology needs. We are extremely grateful to these foundations for helping Ashby Village make critical investments to help ensure our continued success.
