Drop-in Grief Support Group (Zoom)

Living with Loss is a welcoming, peer-led group for those experiencing any kind of loss.

The group is open to both Ashby Village members and volunteers. Each meeting begins with a brief relaxation exercise to help participants settle in, followed by an opportunity to share experiences, listen to others, and reflect together in a caring and supportive environment. Whether your loss is recent or from many years ago, you are welcome to join. The group offers a space for connection, understanding, and mutual support through shared experiences. While it is not a therapy or clinical support group, it provides a compassionate community where participants can find comfort, encouragement, and the reassurance that they are not alone.

This group follows these Community Agreements:

Respect confidentiality. What is shared in the group stays in the group. Please do not discuss others' stories outside of our meetings. If joining by Zoom, please participate from a quiet, private space whenever possible. - Share from the heart, with the option to pass. We listen to each person without interrupting, keeping microphones muted while others are speaking. Everyone is welcome to pass if they prefer not to share and may choose to share later in the meeting.

Please minimize distractions by keeping your camera on or off rather than turning it on and off repeatedly.

Honor each other's experiences. We practice listening without cross-talk. Rather than asking questions, offering advice, or interpreting another person's experience, we simply listen with care and respect.

Step up, step back. To give everyone an opportunity to participate, a suggested time limit for sharing may be announced at the beginning of each meeting. Those who tend to speak more are encouraged to make space for quieter voices, and everyone is invited to share if they wish.
