A Health & Wellness Workshop
Nurturing Connection in Dementia Care

Caring for someone with dementia can be challenging, emotional, and deeply personal. This interactive, in-person workshop focuses on practical, compassionate ways to understand and respond to dementia-related behaviors in loved ones.

Join us to:

  • Learn how dementia can affect behavior and communication
  • Explore common triggers and person-centered care approaches
  • Gain practical strategies for interacting with loved ones experiencing cognitive change
  • Connect with others to share experiences, challenges, and helpful tips

The program includes a short film, co-produced by Ashby Village member Howard Kirsch, that explores the realities of caregiving for loved ones with dementia, followed by facilitated roundtable conversations led by the Health & Wellness Team.

This workshop will be facilitated by Denise Steckel, a Community Educator Volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association for more than three years. Denise brings both professional training and personal experience, having cared for both of her parents who lived with dementia. She is passionate about sharing her story and providing practical education to support caregivers, families, and friends.
