A Health & Wellness Presentation
Alzheimer's and Dementia Research:
What's New?

Alzheimer’s is a global health problem and 7 million people live with this disorder in the United States. Dementia research is moving quickly, and understanding what’s changing can help you make informed choices for yourself and those you care about.

Join us to learn about:

  • The basic facts of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
  • The latest advances in early detection and treatment
  • Latest developments in clinical trials, treatments, and lifestyle interventions
  • Risk reduction strategies, including modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors for Alzheimer’s and other dementias
This information is designed for older adults, care partners, family members, and anyone interested in learning more about dementia research, prevention, and care.

Claire Day

This presentation will be led by Claire Day, a clinical social worker with more than 25 years of experience as a family and professional educator in dementia care. She received her degree from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and has spent her career supporting individuals, families, and care partners navigating the complexities of cognitive change.

Claire served as the chapter lead for the U.S. POINTER Study (U.S. Study to Protect Brain Health Through Lifestyle Interventions to Reduce Risk), in partnership with UC Davis. This two-year clinical trial evaluates whether targeted lifestyle interventions addressing multiple risk factors can help protect cognitive function in older adults at increased risk for cognitive decline.
