Flora and fauna of southern Africa slide show. AV members Roger and Audre Newman have returned from recent trip to Botswana and South Africa. Audre has a prior committement and cannot be there the afternoon of the presentation so Roger will show slides of their trip.
Audre and Roger are veteran travelers who have been to over 80 countries. Roger is a retired instructor of anthropology and history at Berkeley City College. Audre worked as a scientific illustrator designing the art for textbooks by Nobel Prize winning scientists and later worked on internet based science lessons.
They have volunteered for several non-profit organizations including Environmental Traveling Companions, which provides outdoor adventures for people with special needs.
They have a special interest in birds and have lived in Berkeley for over 40 years.
Roger volunteers as a docent at the California Academy of Sciences. Audre helps lead Audubon ecology trips for kids in under-served schools in the East Bay and San Francisco.
They are both members and volunteers at Ashby Village..
