WHERE
: César Chávez Park, 11 Spinnaker Way Berkeley, CA 94710
May is usually one of the warmer months in Berkeley, and what better way to spend a warm, sunny morning than walking by the Bay? Fantastic views may be seen from the Bay Bridge to the San Rafael Bridge, including San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and much of Marin County’s Bay shore. On Saturdays many people fly amazing kites from the César Chávez hill. For more energetic walkers, adjacent Eastshore State Park’s dirt trails (additional 1 mile) wind through native CA scrub habitat and along the south side of the “North Basin” of SF Bay. Optional lunch afterwards: Seabreeze Cafe, or picnic, corner of University and Frontage Road.
Meet at the parking circle at the west end of Spinnaker Way. Portapotties are available there.
How to get there
:
Take University Ave west of the Interstate 80 overpass. Turn right on Marina Blvd to its northern end and turn left on Spinnaker Way. Parking should be available along both Spinnaker Way and Marina Blvd.
Equipment or special clothing, (if necessary)
Windbreaker, water, sun lotion, recommended.
