This trail reaches over Bear Creek drainage area over the Briones Crest into the Alhambra Valley.It climbs through oaks Laurels and buckeyes into a sprawling meadow then ascends steeply to its high point A bench located there offers views of the Berkeley hills, Mt. Diablo, the Carquinez Strait, Suisun Bay and the Sacramento River Delta. We will sit here for a while, have our snacks, enjoy the panoramic views and return by the same route!

Meet at the Bear Creek Staging Area of Briones Reg. Park or 

Transportation options if available: 
No Public. Call Claire (contact above) for carpool from Berkeley Please leave four days for arranging carpools.

How to get there: directions or map (if necessary):
To reach Bear Creek Staging Area on Bear Creek Road, Exit Highway 24 at the Orinda/Camino Pablo exit and head toward Richmond. Turn Right on Bear Creek Road and travel 5 miles to the staging area on the Right.

Equipment or special clothing, (if necessary):
Sturdy shoes for hiking and poles will prove helpful on the steeper terrain. Bring water and a snack for our stop at the half-way point!
