WHERE: Tilden Park Sylvan Trail/Loop Trail Hike

This trail begins at the Nature Center, passes Jewel lake and then ascends into the Eucalyptus forest on Sylvan trail. It Meets up with an unpaved fire road for easy walking, joining the Loop Trail. Depending on our ambition we can either follow it to Lone Oak Road for a longer hike looping back to the parking lot or cut it shorter descending into Little Farm on our return.
This is a shady hike for the most part yet has a bit of a climb.

Where to meet (if necessary) At the Nature Center front entrance near Little Farm. You might want to begin or end with a tour of the Center which houses a display of the Wildcat Canyon watershed (geology, flora, fauna and human history.)

Transportation options if available: #67 bus goes to the Nature Center parking lot.

How to get there: directions or map (if necessary)
From Interstate 80 take University Ave. east to Oxford Street. Turn Left and travel 1.4 miles to Marin Ave.. Turn Right  and go 0.2 miles to Spruce Street. Turn Left (north) on spruce and go 0.4 mile, Cross Grizzly Peak Blvd and take an IMMEDIATE Left on Canyon Drive down into Tilden Park. At the bottom of the hill turn Left onto Central Park Drive which dead ends at the parking for Tilden Nature Center. Trail to the Nature Center is at the far north end of the lot.

Equipment or special clothing, (if necessary): Sturdy shoes for hiking.  Poles prove helpful for those who use them though not necessary. Water as always.
