Many of us would prefer to stay in our homes (whether we own or rent them) for as long as possible.  The question is, how do we do that safely and successfully while having a vibrant community around us to stave off isolation and loneliness in our later years?

The Bay Area and especially the East Bay, is rich in resources and networks that are creating innovative alternatives and support systems for those who want to seek new ways of living with others as we grow older.

We invite you to join a 3-part, in-depth series, co-sponsored by TTN-HOME and Ashby Village, that will explore topics that range from alternative ways to stay in one’s home, finding ways to age in your community, how to find companionship by house sharing with friends – or strangers - and what kind of housing agreements to put in place.

LOCATION:

First Congregational Church of Oakland
New Oakland Room
2501 Harrison St.
Oakland, CA 94612

Admission: $45 for the 3-part series

RSVP to Lynn Richards: lwr7732@pacbell.net

This event will focus on issues around shared housing and  “aging in place”, and on the community resources to support these housing options – including Ashby Village, North Oakland Village and TTN’s own Caring Collaborative.

Co-sponsored by TTN-HOME and Ashby Village

About the “East Bay Housing Options Series”:

This is TTN-HOME's in-depth series that addresses issues designed to help participants identify available housing options and develop a plan to realize their own long-term housing objectives.  In addition to the educational presentations and networking opportunities, attendees also receive emails from TTN-HOME about housing vacancies, housing wanted and announcements of other housing events occurring in the Bay Area.

About “TTN-Home: A Community for Women Over 50 Exploring Housing Options”:

The Transition Network (“TTN”) is a nationwide organization of women over the age of 50 who are dealing with transitions in their lives – career, health, housing and relationships.  Several San Francisco Bay Area TTN members, some faced with their own housing issues, created “TTN-HOME”, an initiative sponsored by our local TTN chapter in association with the Brain Exchange.

TTN-HOME focuses on women over 50 seeking housing options and who are eager to maximize their independence as they get older.  By focusing solely on housing-related questions and issues, TTN-HOME provides resources, networking and creative thinking.
