We'll travel to Jewel Lake via Upper Pack Rat Trail in the woodlands and descending to Jewel Lake. The distance will be close to 2 miles with several elevation increases but our pace will be slow to moderate for maximum enjoyment. If it is warm know that most of this trail is shaded. Bring layers.
Where to meet:
In the parking lot of the Little Farm/Environmental Education Center at the northern end of Tilden Park. Upper Pack Rat Trail marker is on the left side. Meet there.
What to bring:
Binoculars if you have them, good hiking shoes or boots for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather. Hiking poles are optional.
How to get there:
Directions:
In Berkeley take Spruce St to top, cross Grizzly Peak Blvd and turn down Canon Drive. At the bottom of Canon Drive, go left into the EEC parking lot.
Transit:
#67 bus departs Shattuck and Center (in front of Bank of America) and stops at the EEC parking lot (on weekends.)
Carpools:
If you need a ride call Claire for pickup or for arranging a pick up near your home or at North Berkeley BART. Please give several days notice for these arrangements.
