could ashby village dive into march madness 2018?

By Board Member Rochelle Lefkowitz

Retirement rarely brings a yen for boring meetings.  But one thing many of us do miss is doing fun stuff with co-workers.  One of those opportunities—March Madness—could become an Ashby Village effort—with your help.

Here’s all we'd need to organize a pool of Ashby Village NCAA college basketball fans to dive into March Madness 2018 together:

*One or two fun loving managers to organize the effort (starting with a TV Watch Party on Selection Sunday, 3/11/18), help folks fill out their brackets the next Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday), share information on the winners of the key Sweet Sixteen Elite Eight, Final Four and Championship games, and cheer on pool members with such emails as “Bravo! No one else picked that upset”.

*Around ten-plus Ashby Village members/volunteers committed to filling out their brackets after Selection Sunday (sample forms for paper or online scoring, I’m told, are on both CBS.com and ESPN.com).

*If each member pledges $5 or $10 (up to the folks who sign up), then either $1 or $2 goes to Ashby Village, for snacks for Selection Sunday, etc.  And the winner or top three winners (up to the group) get the funds left in the pool!

If you want to step up to manage or join a new Ashby Village March Madness group, just email me—AV board member Rochelle Lefkowitz, promediarl@aol.com—and I’ll help get the party started.

Thanks to our son, sports nut and March Madness pool manager Josh Kramer, for suggesting this idea for Ashby Village sports fans.  Oh, and as soon as a manager appears, I’m off to other Ashby Village activities!
