New and Exciting Wellness Initiative

Ashby Village on the Move - Let's Get Fit with Friends

  •  Did you used to love to run, but had to quit when your knee gave out?
  •  Have you joined a gym to work-out, but instead dropped-out by mid-March?
  •  Do you walk whenever you make plans with friends, but not when you set a time to go alone?

Ashby Village is about to turn what some of us see as a chore into a treat.

For the past few  years, compelling research has been emerging about the importance of physical activity (at all ages) to maintain good health and well-being.

Now there is evidence showing how important physical activity is for improving and maintaining cognitive function, too.

As an organization dedicated to keeping our members healthy and able to live independently at home, Ashby Village not only wants to invite you to stay physically active, we want to help you do that.

As we Ring in the New Year, we encourage all our members to resolve to either:

(1) Start an exercise program (with your doctor's approval) and our help or

(2) Continue your current program, but try out some new and different approaches to physical fitness.

In 2016, we’ll be launching “Ashby Village on the Move”.  We’ll provide you with up-to-date, easy-to-access information in our Village Newsletters about exercise opportunities (Classes, Workshops, Personal Training) both at Ashby Village and in our communities.

For example, we will also be organizing Neighborhood Walking Groups (in addition to continuing the wonderful hikes already offered) and pairing Members with Walking Buddies if needed, as well as car pools to nearby classes.

How can we keep our Village vital and healthy? In 2016, let’s “Get On the Move” and “Get Fit with Friends!

Our Team would love to hear your ideas and suggestions for how we can support each other in getting healthy and staying healthy.

To give us your feedback or to volunteer to work on this Initiative, please call or email: Roberta Pressman rpress19@gmail.com or 510 735-9580.
